Course Description: For the first time ever, ArteSana invites the public to join us for a special week long intensive weaving workshop at our studio in downtown Holyoke. This class will be perfect for beginners or those with some experience looking to deepen their knowledge of woven design. The class will look closely at weave structures and how to read pattern drafts. It will cover overall design and execution of a project: choosing a weave structure and yarn and determining sett, yarn calculations, and warp preparation. We will warp 4 and 8 harness looms to sample weave structures. Each student will have the opportunity to weave on each warp. Weave structures will include plain weave, twills, and block patterns.
Not sure what the weaving activities described above mean? Not to worry! This class will provide the perfect environment for you to dive into the beautiful art of weaving even if you've never tried it before.
Cost: $250 for the week. Looms and all weaving materials will be provided.
Schedule: Monday January 22 through Friday January 26, 10 to 3pm. The afternoon hours will be flexible time for students to work on projects while the morning will be instruction and class time.
Location: ArteSana weaving workshop, 362 Dwight St, Holyoke MA 01040.
